Welcome to the MLI Leadership Institut. It has never been more important to inspire organizations and teams and motivate them to perform at their best, especially in difficult times. To do this, people in leadership roles need to understand how people and organizations tick and how to focus specifically on the most important levers for overall success.
As founder, Sebastian Morgner is one of the pioneers of agile leadership. As a top manager, he has built up eight business divisions and worked closely with more than 130 management teams. Leadership is the decisive lever for translating strategic ideas into reality. Many strategies are not successfully implemented because there is a disconnect between strategy development and strategy implementation. Holistic strategy consulting encompasses the process of strategy development as well as effective methods for successful implementation. The managers involved play a key role in this process. They need tools and methods to concretize the company's goals in such a way that the strategy can be understood and lived in everyday work at moments critical to success. Strategy activation refers to the holistic approach to strategy development and its agile implementation by the managers involved.
Strategy consulting usually fails due to a lack of involvement of the key people needed for implementation. This results in strategies that are too abstract and generic. According to a representative survey of more than 250 executives, successful implementation fails primarily for the following reasons: Lack of practical relevance/excessive complexity (72%), communication and understanding problems (63%), conflicts of goals and interests (38%), unclear roles (30%) – multiple answers were possible.
In an increasingly dynamic economic world, strategic hypotheses must be tested quickly and strategies continuously adapted. Strategy activation focuses on confidently dealing with complexity and systemic success factors in an organization. It uses neuroscientific findings to achieve maximum understanding among all participants, clarify situation-specific roles, and master complexity in an iterative and results-oriented manner. This allows strategic projects to be brought to fruition measurably faster and more frequently.
Developing a corporate strategy requires a thorough analysis of the company's goals, market conditions, and competitive situation. It is important to recognize and take into account the specific culture and potential of a company. Involve the key people you need for successful strategy implementation in the strategy development process from the outset. Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats as objectively as possible using a SWOT analysis. Define clear goals and strategies for achieving these goals. Ensure that the strategy is flexible enough to adapt to changing market conditions and communicate it effectively throughout the company.
External leadership and strategy consulting is particularly advisable if your company is facing major challenges, such as fierce competition, declining sales, or changes in the market environment. When internal resources and expertise are limited or an objective, external perspective is needed, experienced leadership and strategy consulting can provide valuable insights. It is important to carefully consider the right timing to achieve the best results.
The cost of strategy consulting varies greatly depending on the scope and complexity of the project and the reputation of the consulting firm. At the MLI Leadership Institute, you typically agree on a flat project fee based on clearly defined outcomes. To choose the right consulting partner, it is important to review reference projects, check experience and areas of expertise, and consider the chemistry between your team and the consultants. Make sure that the chosen firm understands the specific needs of your company and has the necessary expertise.
